The initiative aims to serve as a window onto the courses provided by the University of Nottingham, and to increase learning opportunities for learners who cannot undertake formal qualifications. It also aims to advance pedagogy across the academic community. Open courseware is a term used to describe collections of educational materials that are freely available on the WEB, often available for translating and repurposing.
The U-Now materials are licensed under the Creative Commons license Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike UK 2.0 Licence (BY-NC-SA).
Resources are offered in the form of PDF, Word doc, podcasts and ZIP files, and are offered on a variety of subjects: history, physics, psychology, business, mathematics, languages, film studies etc.
Where appropriate the content is SCORM conformant to support interoperability between VLEs. However, not all content is suitable for this format, mp3 for example.
