Prezi: Genuine Progress in Presentations? (Visual Rhetoric)
As a result of some recent conversations about PREZI being a fantastic alternative to poorly constructed PowerPoint presentations, or a recipe for 'see-sickness' as the Prezi elements swing and roll into view, I went back to some notes from earlier discussion (2001) with Nicola Durbridge (IET-OU). We were playing with the idea of a visual backgrop, a visual metaphor for the CMC environment then in use, Centricity FirstClass. The notes were interesting and it made me wonder again about metaphor and 'Visual Rhetoric', how we structure and visually present what we say as an element of that being said, how important is it? Prezi I thought gave us a nice chance to reconceptualise 'presentation' and so I threw this little Prezi together. Below is the link to the Prezi, happy to have any comments.
A 'narrated' version also on YouTube, and more considered comment from me at http://spatkinson.wordpress.com
