The Careers Profession Alliance (CPA), formerly known as the 'Careers Colloqium', comprises six careers professional bodies that have been working, on a voluntary basis for nine months, to develop a coherent unified professional voice for people working in careers guidance and education in all its forms and various settings.

In October 2010 the Careers Profession Taskforce, chaired by Dame Ruth Silver, published ‘Towards a strong careers profession’ which set out its vision for high quality careers education, information, advice and guidance. The Task force welcomed the establishment of the Careers Profession Alliance and went on to make recommendations about the future development of the Alliance as a single authoritative voice for the profession.  These are:

  • The Institute of Careers Guidance (ICG)
  • Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS)
  • Association for Careers Education and Guidance (ACEG)
  • National Association for Educational Guidance for Adults (NAEGA)
  • Association of Career Professionals International (ACPI)
  • Northern Ireland Schools and Colleges Careers Association (NISCA)

The remit of the Careers Profession Alliance is to bring together the professional bodies engaged in careers guidance in the UK, in order to manage the process of creating a careers profession comparable with other chartered professions, both in public standing and in the rigour of its supervision of members.

This cloudscape has been designed to enable people to view the work of the CPA, comment on the progress being made and to join in with discussion forums.
